Day 1
Our journey starts in Thessaloniki, one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in Greece. During the first part of the day we will explore the highlights of the city like (The White Tower, Aristotle Square, Saint Demetrius Cathedral, and The Acropolis). The lunch will be in a very nice tavern in Thessaloniki. After lunch we will explore the world famous archaeological site of Vergina (UNESCO). We will see treasures beyond our imagination and the tomb of Royal antique Macedonia including the tomb of Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great. In the afternoon we will head towards Kalambaka where we will see the sun getting down on the rocky cliffs.
Day 2
This day we will visit the monasteries of Meteora (UNESCO). We will visit two monasteries and will be at one of the most fantastic places to make photos. The monasteries itself are a must see for everyone who travels in Greece. During our way up we will see the caves of the Hermits that lived in the area before even the churches were built. We will have our lunch in that area and depart towards the city of Ohrid (UNESCO). During our drive we will see all the way a very nice landscape and will stop at some nice spots. We will enter Macedonia (FYROM) from Florina and make a short Stop in Bitola. It still has an old flair of importance and prestige of former times when it hosted most of the diplomatic offices nearly 100 years ago. Our drive continues to Ohrid were we will be introduced to the history of the City and the oldest lake in Europe and one of the deepest ones (The Ohrid Lake). We will have a special dinner and overnight.
Day 3
In the morning after having breakfast we will head to Albania and the first city that we will visit is Berat (UNESCO). In Berat or the antique city of Antipatrea has a long and important history. The houses in the down town Mangalemi are usually 400 years old some even more. We will visit the Castle and The Onufri Icon museum with a collection of masterpieces of post Byzantine artwork. The lunch we will have in a traditional restaurant with local seasonal and BIO products. This day we will continue our road to the capital of Albania, the city of Tirana. Before checking in the Hotel, we will already get some information and first touch with the city through a panorama Bus Tour. Dinner and overnight in Tirana.
Day 4
The day will start with a walking tour along the Boulevard and through the new City Centre. We will enter also the Famous Ethem Bey Mosque. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful in Southeast Europe. We will have also a bit of free time in a pedestrian street with nice bars and big Plane trees. After the relaxing free time we will head to Kruja. It is Albanians medieval capital and we will visit two Museums which are situated in the Castle. The historic museum and the Ethnographic one. The lunch will be in the old part of the city. After lunch we will have the possibility to buy handmade things from the local people, the bazaar dates far back from the XVI century. We will drive towards Montenegro heading north of Albania. Before making the check in in Budva we will have a photo stop near Saint Stefan. Saint Stefan used to be a Fischer place and since the Yugoslavian times it was a special place for the rich and famous people. Check in and dinner in Budva.
Day 5
The day will start with a morning walk to the old town of Budva where we will get to see the old town, port and churches inside the old part of the town. Budva itself is an indeed old city with 2500 years of history. After Budva we will drive to Kotor (UNESCO). In Kotor we will visit the old town. It is one of the best preserved in the Adriatic Coastline. Kotor as well as Ohrid is on the UNESCO list because of their natural and cultural heritage. It has a fine Venetian style of Architecture and the Boca Kotorska that is a bay that looks like a Fjord. Lunch in the Boca Bay, and continue towards Dubrovnik (UNESCO) in Croatia. After the border crossing we will see the most known city in the Adriatic sea. "Dubrovnik the Pearl of the Adriatic". We will visit the Pile Gate, all the old town, Franciscan Pharmacy and monastery. After we will finish the guided tour of the city, we will make a boat trip nearby the island of Lokrum. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.
Day 6
We will start our day saying goodbye to Dubrovnik and with the warm encounter in Bosnia & Herzegovina. We will drive through the region of Trebinje and continue to Sarajevo the main destination of or day. Sarajevo is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The name is the Slavic form of the Turkish word saray, meaning "palace", but its original name was Vrhbosna. Its population is around 400.000 inhabitants. In 1914 the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand was murdered here, which triggered the First World War. In 1984 the city hosted the 14th Winter Olympic Games one of the best Olympics ever. Between 1992 and 1995, during the Bosnian War, the city was under siege by Serbian troops for more than three years. After we enter the city we will try to go to a museum that is called "Tunnel of Hope". There we will understand much better the history of the 90-s. The city itself has much to offer. During our visit we will be at the old oriental part of the city and the part with more Austro-Hungarian style of architecture. We will also enjoy the local food and the "Bosna Kava". Dinner and overnight in Sarajevo.
Day 7
This day we will be once again in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will drive near the river Bosna and then near the Neretva with breath-taking scenery of geographical formation. Our first station will be the village Blagaj. It is the Spring of the Buna River and it has an old Teke. A monastery for the Bektashi Muslims. We will visit the Teke and understand wat the difference of this Cult is in comparison with others. At the water spring we will eat freshly caught trout. After the lunch we will start the tour in the City of Mostar (UNESCO). We begin at the Catholic Cathedral and visit the old Town and of course the Mostar Bridge. Free time to feel the city and dinner in one of the best restaurants of the city. Overnight in Mostar.
Day 8
We will drive to the small town of Medjogorje. It is a place where pilgrims from all over come to see the Statue of the virgin Mary. It is sad that she appeared there. Since then people are coming from all around to visit the place. It is a very holy place for Catholics but also for other people. After Medjugorje we will continue towards the City of Split (UNESCO). There we will visit the old town and the palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Split is the second most important city in Croatia. Dinner and Overnight in Split. We will see great artwork and even a piece of Egyptology .Diner and overnight in Split.
Day 9
We will leave the Dalmatian Coast and will explore the inner land of Croatia. Today we will see one of the most beautiful National parks in Europe. The Plitvica Lakes (UNESCO). Before starting the tour we will strengthen our self with some local dishes. The tour starts and we will spend 3 to 4 hours in the park. Also a boat trip on one of the lakes ist included. After the trek in the miraculous nature, we will drive to the Capital of Croatia the city of Zagreb. Dinner and overnight will be in Zagreb.
Day 10
After 10 days with each other the last day seems to be a little bit melancholic. We will explore the capital of Croatia - the Place where Nicola Tesla lived and the place where the Cravat was invented. We will visit places such as the upper town, Tomislav Square, Saint Mark Church, National Theatre and the big Cathedral. We will have our last lunch together for this time. After the lunch will be the last free time in Zagreb before we head to the Airport. Arrival at the Airport and a cheer to everybody of yours that have enjoyed this Timeless Region with us.
